The Origins Game Fair is GAMA's official consumer show. It is the only International Hobby Game Fair put on by a non-profit Trade Association. Hundreds of publishers display and sell their wares, run special events to promote their products, and release their newest products at Origins. Game players come from all over North America to play games, to participate in national championship tournaments, and to generally have fun.
Dates for the future shows are:
- 2008: June 26-29
- 2009: June 25-28
- 2010: June 24-27
Retail Badges for Origins
Running a game or comic store takes a lot of work — and worse yet,
it leaves you precious little time to actually play games along the
way. As a benefit to our hard-working
GAMA-member retailers, each store receives two 4-day
Origins badges — a $120 value — for FREE as part of their GAMA membership.
Whether you want to play in some games, wander through the expo hall, attend seminars, or just enjoy the show, your FREE badges let you do it at Origins.
To get your free badges:
- Download and fill out the retailer badge form, then fax it to our office at +1 614 255 4499 or mail it to the office address on the form.
- Pick up your badge on-site at the Retailer desk.

GAMA Retailer Summit at Origins
Are you a retailer, who just hasn’t had time to get to the GAMA Trade Show? Interested in becoming a retailer some day? Join our GAMA Retail Division Board Members and expert retailers as they show you how it’s done, in our third GAMA Retailer Summit.
The schedule hasn't been set yet for 2008, but here's a glimpse of what was done for 2007:
Thursday
2-6 p.m.: Retailer Lounge - Open and staffed by board members and speakers available for small group and one-on-one discussions. For retailers, new and old, as well as those considering going into the business.
Friday
8-10 a.m.: Retail Advisory Board - Discussion between the GAMA Retail Board, other retailers and publishers.
10 a.m. – Noon: Retail 101 / Opening a New Store - Everything you ever wanted to know about opening and operating a retail store, for retailers and would-be retailers.
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Retailer Lounge
Noon – 1 p.m. : Diversification - Consider a business model that encompasses a broader market.
3-5 p.m. : The Bottom Line - Learn to determine the health of your business through cash flow analyses.
Saturday
10-11 a.m.: Finding Your Competitive Edge - The industry has changed. The internet is with us. What will define YOUR store?
10 a.m. – 6 p.m.: Retailer Lounge
11 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Buyer Training - A detailed look at the factors that help professional buyers make their choices.
3-5 p.m.: Exhibit Hall Walk - A great chance for retailers to walk to hall together. Discuss product at the Follow-Up session in the retailer lounge.
5-6 p.m.: Exhibit Hall Walk Follow-Up in lounge
Sunday
10 a.m. – 1p.m.: Retailer Lounge
Attendee Round-Up Opens for Retailers
GAMA is offering members the opportunity to make a little
money for themselves by encouraging Origins attendance.
Simply click here to download the Attendee Roundup form. Print out as many as you like and give them to your customers. For every form
we get back with your store information on it, you get $5! That’s all there is
to it.
Think about it—you will make as much off a single
registration form as you would from a product selling at $10.95 with nothing to
order, stock, or price! (And don’t forget to remind your customers that they
will save too if they pre-register!)
