GTS 2007 is right around the corner! Here's a short list of
things to remember as you prepare to travel to Vegas:
GTS Show reminders:
-
No children under 18 are permitted on the Exhibit Hall
floor.
-
No smoking in GTS Trade Show space. (FYI: Vegas passed a no smoking
ordinance in December 2006. The only areas in hotel/casinos that you can smoke
are – smoking guest rooms, the casino and any bar area that does not serve food
– all other areas are non smoking.)
-
Confirm your hotel reservations! Bally's still has some rooms available
in our block - just call and request them. The 3/30 deadline meant we no longer
had the exclusive right to those rooms. They have now been opened up to the
general public so when they are gone, they're gone! Also remember, part of
supporting your trade show is staying within the convention block. It's what
allows us to use this facility and space.
-
Read the onsite addendum. The seminars listing has been updated online.
Check to make sure everything you want to see is still at the same time and
location.
-
Say "Hi!" to our new attendees and new exhibitors. They will be noted
with ribbons and signs respectively.
-
EXHIBITORS - Your company point of contact will be picking up the
envelope that contains all of your badges. Make sure you know who is picking up
the Exhibitor Info packet for your company.
-
RETAILERS - So that we can be sure to serve our industry's best interests, please remember to bring a photo ID and a copy of your business license to be able to pick up your badge. If you do not have a
business license due to your area's business laws, please bring one of these:
Tax ID number or commercial lease papers. It's important that we support the brick-and-mortar retail market by securing retailer benefits accordingly.
-
If you haven't registered yet, online registration is still up for your
convenience (at onsite rates). Take care of your registration now to avoid standing in line
onsite! https://www.gama.org/gts/shop-online
Personal planning reminders:
- Pack comfortable
shoes - several pairs if you can. You'll be standing and walking in the Exhibit
Hall a lot! Convention center floors are killer on your feet and
legs. So along with comfy shoes, sit down when you can. Get off your feet
periodically - even if only for a couple minutes.
- DRINK WATER! We can't stress this one enough. It
is very, very dry in Vegas. You will not be at your best if you aren't hydrated.
By the time you "feel" thirsty, you're already dehydrating. Caffeine and alcohol
only make the process quicker so be sure to drink water as well between
dehydrating drinks.
- Bring
breath mints. Make sure speaking with you is a pleasant experience. :) (Or offer
them to someone else who needs them.)
-
Medicine - if there
are any medications you are taking on a regular basis, remember to bring them
with you!
-
Insurance cards - Of course nothing should happen during the
course of the weekend or week that you would need them, but much better to be
safe than sorry.
-
For
those of you sharing a room with someone, bring earplugs - Traveling does
strange things to people sometimes.Even those who don't normally snore may start in such a dramatically different climate like that in Vegas
-
EAT! I know this sounds almost as
silly as telling you to drink but for many of us, we get very wrapped up in a
show and many times forget to eat. Or... if we do eat, it's not healthy,
nourishing food. We've put together a list of all
of the food establishments in Bally's and Paris and it's available online http://www.gama.org/gts and we'll have copies
onsite. It even contain a handy pricing guide so you know how much you'll be
spending at each place.
-
Check-in for your flight up
to 24 hours in advance online and print out your boarding pass to avoid standing
in line at the airport. You can select a different seat during this process as
well (even exit rows on some airlines) to get a seat location that fits your
needs more appropriately. The earlier the better as far as seat availability!
(We also strongly suggest having a frequent flyer number for the airline you are
on. They generally don't expire and they will build up over time so you can have
a free ticket!)
See
you soon!
